IN-HOUSE MOVEMENT

Citizen watches feature in-house movements, developed and manufactured entirely by Citizen. Very few watch brands still do this. Most buy their movements in from a third party.

Making our own means we control every stage, from the design of the calibre to the components inside it and the standard each one is held to. That is what delivers the outstanding accuracy, reliability and quality you find in every Citizen timepiece.

It also means we can look after them properly. Any Citizen bought here is serviced by our own authorised centre in Athens rather than sent elsewhere.

DELIVERY & RETURNS

Free delivery on every order in Greece and Cyprus. Orders placed on a working day before 12:00pm are dispatched the same day and usually arrive within 1 to 2 business days.

You have 14 days from delivery to change your mind. Returns are free. Contact us and we arrange the collection. The watch needs to come back unworn, in its box, with the warranty card.

Once it reaches us your refund goes back to the original payment method.

WARRANTY AND SERVICE

Every watch sold here carries the official CITIZEN warranty, three years from the date of purchase. Keep your receipt or your warranty card. You will need one of them to claim.

The warranty covers manufacturing faults. It does not cover batteries, straps and bracelets, the glass, or damage from wear, accident, or water beyond the watch's rating.

Servicing and repairs, in warranty or out of it, are handled by our authorised service centre in Athens.

Eco-Drive 50th Anniversary

Powered by any light

In 1976 CITIZEN released the Crystron Solar Cell, the first analogue watch in the world that ran on light alone. Fifty years later that idea is Eco-Drive, and it has kept more than 100 million batteries out of landfill. It charges from anything: sunlight, a desk lamp, the light already in the room. There is no battery to replace.

  1. 1976 The world’s first light powered analogue watch.
  2. 1986 Eight days of running on one full charge, when two was the norm.
  3. 1995 Six months, with a new rechargeable lithium cell.
  4. 2016 Eco-Drive One, the thinnest light powered analogue watch, on a movement 1.00mm thick.
  5. 2023 Eco-Drive 365, a movement that runs for roughly a year on a single charge.
Where the light goes in

Eco-Drive PHOTON

Where the light goes in

A photon is a single particle of light. The dial takes its form from the double slit experiment: two slitted metal plates sit one above the other, and beneath them, between the dial and the solar cell, is a film that makes colour out of structure rather than pigment. Tilt the watch and the colour moves. What you are looking at is the light on its way to the cell that drives the watch.

Inside is the new calibre E036. One full charge runs it for about a year, and it keeps time to within fifteen seconds a month.

  • Calibre E036, about 365 days on a full charge
  • Accurate to fifteen seconds a month
  • Super Titanium case and bracelet, 39.6mm by 9.9mm
  • Dual curved sapphire with anti reflective coating
  • Water resistant to 5 bar
  • One of 5,000 worldwide, numbered on the caseback
